A one-hour midweek session — the regular top-up between Sundays.
Ages 6 to 14, all levels. We group children into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced bands, so every child is playing with others at their level.
We would encourage absolute beginners to first attend our free Saturday Club at Battersea Library.
Drop-off at 6:00pm. The session runs for one focused hour of coaching and games, with pick-up promptly at 7:00pm.
We are working on an earlier 5:00pm to 6:00pm slot, so do let us know if that would suit you better.
A short, focused coaching block followed by friendly, ability-grouped games. It is a fantastic way to keep the momentum going during the week.

Just bring a water bottle (refills are available) and comfortable clothes. We provide all chess equipment.
We maintain low staff ratios and all our coaches hold Enhanced DBS checks. Our safeguarding policy is available here.

Absolutely. Beginners are very welcome. We'll teach them how the pieces move and build their confidence from there, at their own pace.

Yes. Stronger players join our Advanced group, and our coaches are former England junior players. For even more chess, our Monthly Sunday Club adds tournament games and prizes, and we also offer private coaching.

A short, focused coaching block on a key idea, followed by friendly games against children at a similar level, with coaches on hand to help and give feedback.

Every Tuesday, 6pm to 7pm, at Battersea Labour Club, 81 to 83 Falcon Road, SW11 2PF. It's a short walk from Clapham Junction station. We're also looking at an earlier 5pm to 6pm slot, so let us know if that would suit you better.

£12.50 a session, or £40 for a package of 4 sessions (£10 each). Missed weeks roll over, and the package can also be used at our Thursday and London Bridge Saturday clubs. If cost is a barrier, please get in touch, as we have bursary places available.

Book online through our booking page. Choose a single session or the 4-session pack. If you buy the pack, you'll get a code to enter each time you book.

Yes. All our coaches hold Enhanced DBS checks and have safeguarding training, and every session follows our Safeguarding Policy. We keep staff ratios low and have a named Safeguarding Lead.

Parents are very welcome to stay. If you'd rather drop off, please arrive for 6pm and collect promptly at 7pm. Children will only be released to the parent or guardian named on the booking, or an adult you've told us about in advance.

Single sessions: cancel more than 7 days before for a full refund. After that we can't refund, but get in touch and we'll do our best to move you to another session.
Packages: cancel at least 24 hours before and the session goes back into your package to use another week. Packages are valid for 3 months.
